Greek has arrived in CrossInk

If you have an Xteink e-reader running the open CrossInk firmware, until yesterday Greek books came out as rows of ◆. Not any more: I built Greek support for CrossInk, and as of today there’s a test build for the X4 Pro.

• Greek in the reading fonts, with Greek subsets of Noto next to Bitter and Lexend Deca, so they sit well with the rest of the text.
• Proper hyphenation, even in books that don’t say they’re Greek.
• A Greek menu, with all 843 interface strings translated.
• Greek titles and authors shown properly on the home screen.

It all fits comfortably: the Greek build is even smaller than the official 1.6.0.

It started with a request on CrossInk about Greek showing up as diamonds, and ended, over one evening and a morning, with two test builds and a detailed proposal to CrossInk to bring it into the official firmware. The first word from a user was “works great”.
