LEFTEROS / PERSONAL NOTES

Latest news [iPhone]

29 June 2010 / Lefteris Iliadis / SomniusX

Historical text from HellasProject (2009–2014). It is not current advice or a present-day service.

I have not written on the site for a while, but there is quite a bit of news for you.

First, let me make something clear..

ON THE NEW iOS 4, NOT EVERYTHING FROM MY CYDIA REPOSITORY WORKS

I have had a great many emails on this, even threats. What can I tell you; common sense has to exist too. Something made for Firmware 3.x is not necessarily going to run on Firmware 4.x, and when it says “For FW 3.x ONLY”, well, obviously it is not for 4.x, simple isn’t it? Fine, now that is clear, on to the rest!

Now the other news!

iWork on the iPhone [Rumors]
MacRumors found another hint that strengthens that possibility. The screenshot below is from the international sites for Apple’s AppleCare program:

iOS 4 for the iPad in November (?)
A new Adage piece mentions a possible delay of iOS 4 for the iPad until November.

The iPhone 4 costs $187.51 to build

iSuppli … presents the bill of materials for the iPhone 4. Overall, then, the iPhone 4 16GB costs $187.51 to manufacture, not counting marketing, R&D, shipping etc. The most expensive part is the IPS LCD at 960×640, at $28.50. Next on the list are the A4 processor at $10.75, the gyroscope at $2.60, while the front camera also added to the total though we still do not know its price.
