It came, we saw… but it is not enough

Today I went down to buy a headset with a microphone because the previous one broke: my “woof” Seli found it handy and shredded it!

So I went to Glyfada square, to the shops, where all three sit side by side, to get prices. I found what I wanted cheap at the smallest of them, but on the way back I said, “oh what the hell, I’ll go take a look..” meaning I went to see mama Apple’s new creation, the “iPad”.

I should say I have heard and seen a lot about the iPad, not only from foreigners but from people close to me who have had one in their hands for almost a week (Vangelis Petalias aka ThrilOSX on [Twitter]( "ThrilOSX @ Twitter") from Greek-Mac.com)). I did not have the personal experience, though, of holding it to form a complete view. Truth is, from the first time I saw it at the presentation it did not fill my eye, and until a little while ago, before I tried it, it had not sold me enough to say “I’ll save up and get one sometime” the way I went from iPhone 2G to iPhone 3GS (thankfully non-MC).

So I went to a well-known orange-coloured chain, not the one that frames the square, and immediately found the guy I know there who happens to be the manager and I ask “do you have it?”.. the man froze, who knows what he thought.. I continue “the iPad, man..” …. then he got it; apparently he had not grasped how burned I am on mama Apple’s machines. I approached it, open and wrung out from previous use. In feel, eh.. good, a bit heavy; in use, I’ll say it.. it has speed PERIOD.. I immediately checked Safari and took the screenshots below..

OK, the page looks quite good in iPad Safari, but the YouTube video did not show the familiar frame to open it with the built-in YouTube plugin, which surprised me quite a bit; anyway, I tried a bit more of whatever was stock.

In general I stay of the same view.. I do not like it at all. For people who want internet, films, music it will be fine, but it is really good for those who want to show that they bought it or that they had it first.

And I ask why does this showing-off frenzy grab you kids?

I await your comments!
