iPhone 3GS – Dual SIM

Historical text from HellasProject (2009–2014). It is not current advice or a present-day service.
A while ago I was tempted and ordered from nearby China a little chip that, according to reports and videos, lets you have two SIM cards in the device.
There are many on the market, but “none”, absolutely “none”, whatever they tell you, allows both SIMs to work at the same time. One at a time, and you switch depending on need. Some, like the one above, also support timed switching: first SIM for 10 minutes, then the second for 3 minutes, or however you like. Let’s get to the models.
Now the models..

There are various models, and unfortunately most are not only misleading but counterfeit. When I say counterfeit I mean it: fake!
- The old model made you cut your SIM cards exactly to a size so they would fit a specially shaped card that went into the iPhone, so you could never use them elsewhere again except with the dual-SIM. Go to a carrier/shop and they will often charge you 12€ for a new one!
- The other model that claims to do everything and costs 60€. Same as above, only with lots of frills. Do not fall for that.
- And last, my model, recently released and the cheapest, around $11–14, but it sticks out of the device. (video below; the English is not great, but it sold me on the purchase!)
In that last case, each maker offers (at extra cost) an ugly, huge plastic case that is also an extra battery and accepts the protruding bit. There are a few new rubber ones too, but none is like “our” case. You will ask, a case? Yes, a case. Every iPhone owner should have a good one, so I used one of my choice from Xmarket.gr (soon opening online) and fitted the dual-SIM just fine, and now I enjoy it!
Would you want dual-SIM on your iPhone?
