[Guide] Facebook chat from iChat

Very few people do not have a Facebook account, and quite a few use the chat that lives on Facebook.
If you are in that group, you will like this post, which explains how to make iChat work with Facebook chat.

It is not hard and you certainly do not need a computer science degree.

Step 1: Open iChat

Step 2: In the menubar under iChat find the app settings (Preferences).
Step 3: Click the plus at the bottom left of the Accounts tab to add another account.

Step 4: Fill in your details: Account Type choose Jabber, Account Name put your Facebook username in the form username@chat.facebook.com. Password is of course your Facebook password. Finally under Server Options, in Port, put 5222.
Step 5: Click Done.

That is it. Another window has opened in iChat with your Facebook friends.
The only difference if you have never opened iChat is that the first time it starts at Step 4.
