The Chinese i/aPad

21 April 2010 / Lefteris Iliadis / SomniusX

Historical text from HellasProject (2009–2014). It is not current advice or a present-day service.

The famously ingenious Chinese pulled off their miracle, and it looks like they did it very fast!

I present the aPad.

A device that, according to the page selling it, has:

  • 7-inch screen
  • touch screen
  • G-sensor, so it knows which way you hold it
  • photos
  • music
  • YouTube support
  • and much more (thanks to Android OS)
  • but…

It does NOT support iTunes.. (SHUSH!! :D

For the 4GB ROM model the price is about $200 (not bad!) and there will be other models by capacity.

The seller page (link) lists even more:

  • Google Android 1.5 OS
  • CPU: Rockchip 2808A 600MHz / 500MHz DSP (Dual-Core)

Honestly, it will be a nice simple netbook with a touch screen running Android. For the money it is cheap and fairly expandable. Of course… **it is NOT an iPad! :P

A few photos so you can see it! :)
